Author Helen Fielding hails the musical new Bridget Jones, Sheridan Smith

Romola Garai: The Queen?s speech?

Despite her success in this country, Romola Garai has spoken of her reluctance to head for America. ?Hollywood makes me feel like a polar bear on holiday in the Bahamas,? she said.

The 28-year-old star of Atonement does not need to look far for encouragement, though, as Mandrake can disclose that her boyfriend, Ben Hooper, a 34-year-old barrister, is the brother of Tom Hooper, the director who is the toast of Tinseltown after his film The King?s Speech triumphed at this year?s Oscars.

The only thing that Garai has ever said publicly about Ben is ?it?s so nice that he?s not in the business. He is very bright and sees the frivolity of the whole thing with an arched eyebrow.?
