William Shatner in one-man Broadway show

Shatner was last on Broadway in A Shot in the Dark in 1961. The former T.J. Hooker star won an Emmy for his work on Boston Legal.

His other Broadway credits include Tamburlaine the Great in 1956 and The World of Suzie Wong two years later.

Shatner branched out into film and television work, making guest appearances in shows including The Twilight Zone and The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

But he did not find mainstream success until he landed the lead role in the original Star Trek TV series in 1966 playing the lead role of Kirk.

Shatner has also released a series of cult albums, featuring spoken-word interpretations of Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, Common People and Space Oddity.

It has not been known whether he will sing in his Broadway show.
