It was a match made in fashion heaven, but actress Sarah Jessica Parker's stint at Halston Heritage has come to end after just a year and a half.

The Sex and the City star was made president and chief creative officer of Halston Heritage, the sister label of the Halston brand, in January last year, and championed her creations at numerous press appearances, particularly during the promotional trail for the Sex and the City 2 film.

No comment from either the label or Parker has been made concerning the split, but is alluded to in the August issue of American Vogue, of which the 46-year-old gives an interview and stars on the cover.

The mainline Halston label, which was founded by the late Roy Halston Frowick in the 1960s, is headed up by London Fashion Week designer Marios Schwab. In 2007 it was acquired by Hilco Consumer Capital and film producer Harvey Weinstein's The Weinstein Co, but recent reports suggest that the company is in financial trouble, hiring an investment bank to source more funds.

Although Sarah Jessica Parker's role as fashion-loving Carrie in the hit TV series made her synonymous with luxury style, the mother-of-three was confident that her enthusiasm would make up for her lack of design training, telling WWD: "There is a huge amount I don't know and I am very candid about that, and I am excited to learn. I have no allergy to learning."

Inspired by the archives from the Halston dresses worn by the Studio 54 crowd that counted Liza Minelli, Lauren Bacall, Bianca Jagger and Angelica Huston, the Heritage line is currently stocked by Harrods, My-Wardrobe.com and Net-A-Porter.com.
