Amy Winehouse tributes led by Russell Brand

The single and video featuring the pair will be released on September 14, which would have been Winehouse's 28th birthday.

And American singer/songwriter Bruno Mars covered one of Winehouse's hits, Valerie, finishing with the line "Amy, we'll miss you baby".

R&B queen Beyonce Knowles struck a happier note as she revealed she is pregnant with her first child.

Before the gala in Los Angeles the former Destiny's Child singer posed cradling her stomach in an orange gown.

Then during the performance of her latest single Love On Top Beyonce told the audience: "I want you to feel the love that's growing inside me."

She finished the song by opening her jacket and rubbing her baby bump, to the delight of her rapper husband Jay-Z.

People magazine reported that her representative had confirmed the news, saying: "I'm happy to say it's true."

Two other female artists came away from the awards with big smiles on their faces as they tied for the most awards on the night.

London girl Adele picked up three Moonman trophies for her Rolling In The Deep video.

And Russell Brand's wife, pop diva Katy Perry, picked up another three gongs for Firework.
