Marcus Brigstocke in funny business at the BBC
As a poster-boy for the liberal intelligentsia, Marcus Brigstocke felt that he should urge the BBC to recruit a wider social and racial mix to the cast of The Now Show.
Now, the comedian, who was a regular on the popular Radio 4 satire, tells Mandrake that he has fallen victim to his own political correctness.
?It was a combination of my being busy and the cack-handedness of the BBC, which I inadvertently contributed to,? he says at the Specsavers Crime Thriller Awards, at the Grosvenor House hotel in Mayfair.
?I suggested to the producers that it was a problem that all of our contributors were white and middle-class and that some of mine and Mitch Benn?s slots should be taken by black and Asian comedians.
?They took my advice on board and, as a result, I just haven?t been booked on for ages.?
