My perfect weekend: Imran Khan
On my perfect weekend I would see no one except my very close friends Yousaf, Moby, Zakir and Goldie. I?ve known them for more than 30 years but these days it?s so rare that I get to spend time with them. We?d go for long walks, relax in the sun and eat delicious dinners. Yousaf is one of the best cooks I know. Ideally he will prepare something from the organic produce on my farm ? I rear my own chickens, water buffalo and cows and I grow my own vegetables, wheat and fruit. If I had my way he?d make chicken in organic butter fat ? he?s a master at it. Moby produces great music. After dinner we?ll relax by the fire and listen to music and talk late into the night.
If my children Sulaiman, 14, and Kasim, 12, were there too, the weekend would be even more ideal. I always have the best time when I?m with my children. I especially look forward to them coming to stay in the winter because they can play outside with their friends for most of the day and spend time with me inside in the evenings. There?s endless entertainment for them on the farm: a swimming pool, a mini-cricket ground and acres upon acres of open space where they can run around and see birds and animals.
If we go out anywhere, it will be to one particular restaurant I love in Islamabad called Mian Jee. It?s where the truckers stop for a meal on the way into the city. The chefs there only cook four dishes but they cook them so well and everything is fresh and organic. Their channay ki daal (fried dahl) is internationally renowned.
I?m based permanently in Pakistan but I do spend a few weekends a year in Britain. I fly over every July when my children are on school holidays and stay with my ex-mother-in-law in Richmond. I?m so grateful that she lives in a place where there are plenty of open spaces where we can bowl a ball to each other and go walking in Richmond Park. I?d find it very difficult to be stuck in central London these days ? I wouldn?t know what to do with myself.
That said, I do have fond memories of my weekends in Britain when I was younger. After I?d graduated from Keble College, Oxford, in 1975, most of my weekends were taken up playing cricket for Worcestershire and Sussex or captaining Pakistan?s team. Then from 1988 to 1994, when I?d retired from county cricket, I enjoyed being a bachelor in London. All my friends were free at weekends so we would laze about together, reading the papers. A far cry from my life today!
On Sunday evenings on my farm, I always look forward to the new week with great expectation. I always have projects on the go: I?ve built a hospital, I?m building another hospital, I?ve set up a university and my book, a personal history of Pakistan, has just appeared in the bookshops. But given that weekends don?t really exist for Pakistani politicians, there?s every chance Monday will be a day of rest.

People vs. Dr. Conrad Murray -- EMT: We Could Have Saved Michael Jackson
Filed under: Richard Senneff, Conrad Murray Trial, Celebrity Justice
Richard Senneff -- Firefighter/Paramedic #1 TestifiesUpdated 9/30/11 at 8:45AM
One of the paramedics who rushed to save Michael Jackson's life at 100 N. Carolwood Drive just testified ... if Murray would have called 911 immediately, Michael Jackson's life might have been saved.
Richard Senneff said Murray told him he called 911 the second he realized MJ was in distress, when in fact there was an approximate 20 minute delay.
Senneff said had Murray called earlier there was a good chance EMTs could have restarted Michael's heart.
Senneff said when he arrived at the scene MJ was already dead.
* According to Senneff Murray lied when he told paramdics MJ had no underlying condition.
* When Senneff asked him what medications MJ was on, Murray lied again, saying "none." He then admitted he had given MJ a sedative, Lorazepam. At NO point did Murray ever mention the word Propofol.
* After almost 40 minutes and several unsuccessful rounds of starter drugs, the dispatcher at UCLA decides to call time of death... but Murray insists on continuing.
* Paramedics decide to take Michael to the hospital. After getting him into the ambulance, Senneff goes back to MJ's room to retrieve his equipment.... that's when he says, he saw Murray picking up "items" off the floor.
* Senneff said there was no sign of life at any point during the 47 minutes he treated MJ.

Tyrese -- Banned from the Airwaves in Delaware
Filed under: Tyrese Gibson, Music, Exclusive, Celebrity Justice
You won't be hearing any Tyrese songs on the radio in Delaware in the near future ... because the singer's music has been banned from the biggest hip hop station in the state.
TMZ spoke with Tony Quartarone -- the station owner at KISS 101.7 -- who tells us he's not upset with Tyrese because he took a stand against liquor stores ... instead, he claims the problem was the way the singer addressed his listeners.
Quartarone says, "Tyrese was not kicked off the air for pointing out that liquor stores should not be located near schools ... I totally agree with that. But ... he proceeded to downgrade my audience by calling them 'homies.'"
Quartarone says he felt the language was condescending -- and that's why he asked Tyrese to leave the building Monday morning. After Tyrese tweeted about the incident, Quartarone says he decided to ban Ty's music until he gets an apology.
He probably won't get one -- Tyrese called in to "TMZ Live" yesterday and told us he simply didn't care if the station takes his music out of rotation.

Brazilian government seeks to ban Gisele Bundchen lingerie advert
It "ignores the progress made in ending sexist practices. It also represents discrimination against women," the ministry added in a statement.
As well as complaining to advertising authorities, the ministry has also written to Sylvio Korytowski, the director of Hope Lingerie, to protest about the campaign.
The company said in a statement that ?the examples were never intended to seem sexist, but rather of the everyday life of a couple.?
It said it had opted to use an internationally successful woman such as Bundchen to avoid being seen to show any bias towards ?subservience or financial dependence of women.?
Last year, Brazil?s ministry for women managed to ban a beer advert which showed hotel heiress Paris Hilton rubbing a can of beer on herself to the delight of onlookers watching through a window.

People vs. Dr. Conrad Murray -- Michael Jackson's Security Guard Alberto Alvarez Testifies

Alberto Alvarez -- Michael Jackson's Security Guard TestifiesUpdated 9/29/11 at 8:48 AM
Michael Jackson's security guard Alberto Alvarez -- the man who called 911 the morning MJ died -- just took the stand.
* Alvarez said on the evening of June 24 -- the night before his death -- Michael was in a great mood.
* After the rehearsal, Alvarez headed back to MJ's house to prepare for Michael's arrival and saw Dr. Murray's BMW parked in the driveway.
* The following day, at around 12:18 pm, as he was sitting at the security trailer, Alvarez got a call from MJ's assistant asking him to rush into the house without creating a "commotion."
* When he got to the second floor, he saw Conrad Murray heading to MJ's bedroom.
* When Murray saw him, he told him, "come, come quick." That's when he said, he understood the seriousness of the situation and hung up the phone with MJ's assistant, Michael Amir Williams.
* When he walked into the room, the first thing he saw was Murray giving MJ chest compressions while MJ was laying on bed.
* Alvarez said MJ was on the far side of the bed, laying on his back with his hands extended to the sides, palms up... his mouth and eyes open and face slightly toward the left.
* Murray was using one hand -- his left -- to do the compressions.
* Murray then said, "We have to get him to the hospital."
* That's when he noticed Paris right behind him crying and screaming "Daddy!"
* He says MJ's face was facing Paris at the time.
* Murray yelled, "Don't let them see their dad that way" ... so Alvarez moved the kids away.
* When he returned to the room, he asked Murray, "What happened?" Murray said it was "a bad reaction."
* Alvarez noticed a condom catheter -- a device that collects urine -- attached to MJ's penis.
* Alvarez said Murray grabbed a "handful" of vials, handing them over to Alvarez saying "put these in a bag."
* Alvarez held a plastic bag open and Murray placed the vials in the plastic bag, then told him to put the plastic bag in a brown bag.
* Murray then asked Alvarez to put the brown bag in a blue bag... which Alvarez did.
* Murray asked him to take the saline bag from the IV stand and put it in the blue bag as well.
* Alvarez said he didn't question Murray's request. He thought they were packing all the items for the hospital.
* There were two saline bags on the IV stand but Murray only asked for the one that had a vial in it and a "milky white substance" at the bottom of the bag.

Dad's Army: the show that won't go away
Nevertheless, the secret of the show?s success ? and the reason it remains beloved all over the world ? is that the war is less than the half of it. What draws me in, for instance, is the nostalgic evocation of a lost (pre-immigration) Englishness. Walmington-on-Sea, with its Novelty Rock Emporium, Jolly Roger Ice Cream Parlour, and Marigold Tea Rooms; with its archetypal vicar, verger, butcher and bank manager assembling proudly in a shabby church hall ? it is all as idyllic as an Ealing comedy.
Yet the script ? the conception ? couldn?t work its magic without the actors. Would anybody remember Dad?s Army if Thorley Walters or Jon Pertwee had played Mainwaring, as originally discussed? Or if Arthur Lowe and John Le Mesurier?s roles had been reversed, as was once planned?
One of the funniest scenes ever filmed is Arthur Lowe falling over and coming back into view with his spectacles and cap askew, the little chap with an inflated sense of his own importance. I still laugh, after 40 years, at Mr Yeatman, the verger, in his Sea Scout uniform. I never could abide, however, Clive Dunn?s old git act, losing his cool and dropping his rifle and yelling: ?Don?t panic! Don?t panic!?
The comic timing between Arthur Lowe and John Le Mesurier remains unsurpassed. ?Would you all mind falling into three ranks, please? Just as quickly as you can, in three nice, neat lines. That would be absolutely lovely, thank you so much,? orders Sergeant Wilson, a monument to world-weariness and benign helplessness. Meanwhile, Captain Mainwaring, bursting with indignation, looks on incredulously.
If the Nazis are a distant menace, what produces the tension in the series is the class conflict ? Mainwaring, the struggling lower middle-class grammar school boy, pitted against the insouciant public school toff Wilson, a gent who is also his underling at the bank. Jonathan Cecil, who like Croft also sadly died a few days ago, and who appeared in one of the episodes as an intelligence officer in charge of dog handling, told me that Lowe and Le Mesurier were similarly characterised in real life. ?When Mainwaring looks disbelievingly at Wilson, that was Arthur looking with amazement at John.?
Le Mesurier went to Sherborne and swanned through life, always being offered the pick of character actor roles. He was once married to Hattie Jacques and didn?t seem to notice when she ran off with other men, as we know from the biopic with Ruth Jones. With his third wife, Joan, he was cuckolded by Tony Hancock, but they remained friends.
Lowe, meantime, huffed and puffed his way through variety and provincial rep ? he was a stalwart in Hereford for many years ? and was stuck at Granada playing the bossy Leonard Swindley, chairman of the Glad Tidings Mission Hall, in Coronation Street.
He was born in humble circumstances in Derbyshire in 1915, and his first job was as an under-manager in a warehouse selling spare bicycle parts.
?He was definitely a bit pompous, even then,? recalled a colleague. During the war he joined the Royal Ordnance Corps and trained in radar. ?He was very pompous as a corporal,? a fellow soldier testified.
Le Mesurier was so dreamy and enervated, he?d get a wardrobe assistant to wind up his wristwatch. Lowe was prickly and full of insecurities. On a location shoot in Thetford, the props man eventually complained, ?D?you know, in one day I?ve had more trouble with him than I had with Charlton Heston on the whole of El Cid.? It was a contractual obligation, for example, that Lowe would never be required to remove his trousers.
Le Mesurier was aloof, doing his suffering in stoical silence. Lowe was bold, vulnerable and noisily scornful. ?Oh, they?ll know by the tone of my voice that I?m in charge,? Mainwaring would say ? and Croft and Perry knew just when to give the character lines they?d heard Arthur Lowe himself say.
Of the rest of the happy breed, Arnold Ridley (Private Godfrey) was a successful playwright ? The Ghost Train is still revived ? and according to Graham McCann, who has written the definitive history of the series, he himself was ?not incontinent?, which is good to know. As a young man he had fought on the Somme and had played wing three-quarter for Bath RFC. Where Lowe?s character, in Coronation Street, had been jilted at the altar by Emily Nugent (later Emily Bishop), Ridley appeared in the soap as Herbert Whittle, wooer of Minnie Caldwell.
John Laurie, Frazer the gloomy funeral director, was a professional Scot who lived all his life in Chalfont St Giles. If he fluffed a line he implored the studio audience to forgive him, as ?ahm such a silly auld sod? ? but one who was proud to have been in Olivier?s Henry V and Richard III. He is also the wife-beating crofter turning on Peggy Ashcroft in Hitchcock?s Thirty-Nine Steps.
?And now I?m only famous for this crap!? he?d growl, turning up for yet another recording session ? there were seven series all told, plus Christmas specials. Lowe was similarly morose about being typecast, and wouldn?t allow the Dad?s Army script in his house, considering it ? or pretending to consider it ? the most frightful rubbish.
James Beck, the charming black marketeer Private Walker, was the first to go, dying of alcoholism in 1973, aged 44. They are all long gone now, of course, the Home Guard actors, save Ian Lavender (Pike) and Clive Dunn (Private Jones). Nevertheless, such is their immortality on television and through DVD boxed sets that every week someone used to ask David Croft if the original cast could be reassembled and the programme revived. It won?t be long before computers will be able to accomplish exactly that.

Conrad Murray trial: Michael Jackson's children watched as doctor tried to resucitate father
He then realised Jackson?s daughter Paris, then aged 11, and son Prince, who was 12, were just outside the room on the landing near the doorway.
Mr Muhammad said: ?Paris was on the ground balled up crying and Prince was standing there. He just had a shocked, slightly crying look on his face.?
He took the children downstairs to a ?secure location where they couldn't see what was going on.? as Mr Alvarez helped Dr Murray with CPR.
Mr Muhammad?s testimony came on the second day of the trial of Dr Murray who is accused of causing Jackson?s death by giving him propofol and other sedatives. Dr Murray denies a charge of involuntary manslaughter.
Jackson's personal assistant Michael Amir Williams also gave an emotional account of the moments after the singer's death, describing how Dr Murray left a frantic voice message for him. In the message he said: ?Call me right away call me right away. Thank-you.?
Mr Williams phoned back two minutes later and, in a 35-second call, was told by Dr Murray: ?Get here right away. Mr Jackson had a bad reaction Get somebody here immediately.?
Dr Murray did not asked him to phone the emergency services. Mr Williams said: ?When I hear 'bad reaction? I don?t think that?s fatal. And he didn?t ask me to call 911,? he said.
The assistant rushed from downtown Los Angeles to Jackson?s home.
He said: ?When I got there they were beginning to bring the gurney down. It was real frantic. I remember seeing Dr Murray coming down. I saw him talking to medics.?
Dr Murray was looking ?frantic? and told him: ?I?m riding with the ambulance.?
Mr Williams followed the ambulance in a car along with Jackson?s three children Prince, Paris and Blanket, the court heard. There were ?cameras everywhere? and he tried to shield the children with his jacket.
After he got in to the hospital where Jackson was being treated Dr Murray approached him in a corridor.
?He said there was some cream in Michael?s room that he wouldn?t want the world to know about,? Mr Williams said. ?He suggested I, or someone, give him a ride back to get the cream that Michael wouldn?t want the world to know about.?
Mr Williams rejected the request and told other staff to ?lock down? Jackson?s mansion so that Dr Murray could not get back inside.
In a search of Jackson's home after his death, police found two types of skin cream commonly used to treat vitiligo, a skin condition in which there is a loss of brown pigment, resulting in white patches.
According to the personal assistant Dr Murray often stayed the night at the mansion and it had become common to see oxygen tanks there.
The jury was shown a photograph of the inside of a security trailer where various oxygen tanks were kept.
Mr Williams also said he would ?very regularly? drive Jackson to see other doctors including Dr Arnold Klein.
He said that when Jackson came out of Dr Klein?s office he would sometimes be talking more slowly. He said: ?I can definitely say he?s come out and he?s a little slower.?
That evidence was backed up by Mr Muhammad who said at one point Jackson was visiting the office of Dr Klein almost every day.
Jackson told his head of security he had to make the visits because he had a skin disease.
Earlier, the court heard that Dr Murray had asked the promoters of Jackson?s planned comeback tour for life saving equipment days before his death.
A lawyer who drew up a ?contract of services? between Jackson, Dr Murray and promoters AEG Live, said the request was for a portable cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) machine.
Kathy Jorrie said Dr Murray had also asked for an assistant physician to work with him. Miss Jorrie described how she had been surprised by the request for a CPR machine. She said: ?I asked Dr Murray why you need a CPR machine because I wanted to make sure Michael Jackson was healthy and didn?t have a heart condition.
?He said when Michael Jackson was performing he would be putting on an extraordinary performance. We talked about his amazing abilities. He said that, given his age and the strenuous performance, he needed to be sure that if something went wrong he would have the machine.?
She added: ?Dr Murray told me repeatedly Michael Jackson was perfectly healthy and in excellent condition, don?t worry about it he?s great.?
The machine and extra doctor were not delivered because Jackson had not signed the contract before he died.
Miss Jorrie said she also passed on to Dr Murray a request from insurers to see Jackson?s medical records. The doctor told her he had been the singer?s personal physician for three of the previous five years, but there had been no major health issues so his medical records would be ?tiny.?
Miss Jorrie said she had spoken to Dr Murray on the phone the day before the singer died. Dr Murray told her he had watched Jackson rehearsing and that he looked ?extraordinary.?
According to music executive Paul Gongaware, who witnessed the singer practicing on the two days before his death, Jackson appeared ?strong? and ?full of energy? at rehearsals.
Mr Gongaware, joint chef executive of AEG Live, said he had appeared ?fully engaged.?
The executive also said Dr Murray had a ?friendly and caring? relationship with Jackson. Mr Gongaware said he had ?no idea? the doctor was giving Jackson nightly doses of propofol.
Under cross-examination Mr Gongaware acknowledged that AEG is being sued by Jackson?s mother Katherine for alleged negligent supervision of Dr Murray when he worked with the singer.

Frankly, the British weather's hot enough for a Hawaiian
Wondering where, exactly, you should do this? On the nearest available green space. You may find it crammed with people lying among picnic paraphernalia and diseased pigeons. Don?t worry, that?s just what we do!
Remember: this might be the last time you see sunlight for six months. You must make the most of it. Decide that a game of rounders is in order, despite the fact that you haven?t played it since you were eight years old. Pull a muscle while making a break for the first base. Moan some more about the heat. Experience a profound sense of relief that it will be snowing in two weeks. Return promptly to Hawaii.

There was a time when British pop stars travelled to the States to film their music videos ? something set in Brooklyn or south central Los Angeles would certainly make them look edgy. After the riots, the traffic has reversed and outsiders are queueing up to gain British street cred. To wit: Rihanna, causing a fuss by stripping off during a video shoot in a field in Northern Ireland. Later, she rocked up in Belfast to continue filming on a housing estate.
Her colleague Britney Spears recently arrived in Hackney to film the video for her single Criminal. She posed with a replica gun at Stoke Newington Town Hall. As a resident of Clapham Junction, I eagerly await the arrival of Lady Gaga, who could perhaps do a video shoot in which she pretends to set fire to a fancy dress shop, before rampaging through Debenhams.

Happy birthday Songs of Praise, which turns 50 this week. Not everyone was a fan when it was launched, the Archbishop of York describing it as broadcasting ?for the gormless masses?. One shudders to think what he would have made of today?s television. Indeed, this makes me slightly nervous about what broadcasting will look like in yet another 50 years. At this rate, The Only Way is Essex and The X Factor are going to look positively highbrow.

Kathy Jorrie -- AEG Attorney TestifiesUpdated 9/28/11 at 9:15 AM
AEG attorney Kathy Jorrie took the stand this morning -- describing the contract she drafted between AEG, Dr. Murray, and Michael Jackson.
According to Jorrie, Murray had a laundry list of demands -- including $150,000 a month, even while "This Is It" was on hiatus.
Jorrie testified, Murray also demanded a CPR machine for MJ while he performed in London.
Jorrie claimed, when she asked Murray why he would need a CPR machine... Murray responded, he didn't want to take chances with MJ's age and the strenuous nature of the show.
* Jorrie says she spoke to Murray on June 24th. Murray told her he had seen Michael perform and that he was in "perfect health." This was a day before he died.
* She also said the contract was never signed by all parties, and no payment was ever made to Murray by AEG.

Emergency at CBS Studios -- White Powder in Mailroom
Filed under: Bristol Palin, Craig Ferguson, Chaz Bono, Dancing with the Stars, Exclusive
Police and emergency vehicles arrived to CBS Television City in Hollywood moments ago ... after someone reported that white powder spilled out of a letter in the CBS mailroom.Law enforcement sources confirm ... cops are investigating the scene.
Sources on the lot tell TMZ ... the letter was NOT addressed to anyone on "Dancing with the Stars" ... but so far, it's unclear who the intended recipient was.
It's not the first time CBS has had an anthrax scare -- just last year, the studio went on lockdown when production staff found white powder in a letter addressed to Bristol Palin.
Officials also intercepted a threatening letter addressed to "Late Late Show" host Craig Ferguson just last month. The letter also contained white powder -- which was later determined to be cornmeal.
3:21 PM:The L.A. City Hazardous Materials team is on the scene.
4:00 PM: Crisis over. Law enforcement sources tell us the powder is a "non-harmful" substance ... but still unclear what it is.

The real estate market has Hulk Hogan in a serious chokehold -- because the Florida mansion he once listed for $25 MILLION ... has now been reduced all the way to $8.87 million.
Hulk has been trying to unload the mansion -- famously featured in "Hogan Knows Best" -- since 2006. He's dropped the asking price twice before ... but now, he's finally UNDER double digits.
As for the 17,145 square foot estate -- it boasts 5 bedrooms, 9.5 baths, a boathouse, a pool with a two-tier waterfall, and a four car garage.
It's a buyers market ... if you've got a few mil to spare.

Tyrese -- BOOTED from Radio Station for Talking About Liquor Stores
Filed under: Tyrese Gibson, Exclusive Details, Kids, The Facts Behind The Funny!, The Facts Behind The Funny Position 010
Tyrese claims he was WRONGLY kicked out of a radio station in Delaware yesterday -- and it's all because he TOOK A STAND against liquor stores that operate near elementary schools.
It all happened at WJKS KISS 101.7 in Delaware -- when Tyrese, who was invited on the show to promote his album, made a PASSIONATE statement about how liquor stores SHOULD NOT be allowed near schools ... after seeing one on his way to the station.
During his rant, Tyrese told the DJ, "Get them cats out of here ... selling alcohol right across from your kids school, homie -- put the pressure on them homie ... you know how to put pressure on dudes selling in your hood."
But when the show went to commercial, Tyrese was asked to leave the building -- and the owner of the radio station confirms to TMZ that it was because he felt Tyrese was "disrespecting" the Delaware community.
After the incident, Tyrese tweeted, "I just kicked out of a radio station frm a [program director] who had a problem w/ me speaking on liquor stores that are by elementary schools in Delaware."
He later added, "If you don't STAND for something.. You will damn near fall for Anything."

Michael Amir Williams -- MJ's Personal Assistant TestifiesUpdated 9/28/11 at 10:33 AM
Michael Jackson's personal assistant Michael Amir Williams just took the stand -- and prosecutor Ed Chernoff showed the jury the panicked voicemail Dr. Conrad Murray left on Williams' phone the day MJ died.
* Williams said no one -- other than Michael and the kids -- was allowed to the second floor of the house unless specifically asked... because MJ liked his privacy.
* Williams also said MJ was in good spirits on the evening of June 24, 2009... his last rehearsal. He said the rehearsal was "amazing."
* The following day, Williams received a panicked message from Murray at 12:13 pm saying, "call me right away." When he called back, Murray told him MJ had a "bad reaction" ... and to "get somebody here immediately."
* When he got there, the first thing he saw was MJ being brought out in a gurney. He said Murray seemed "frantic."
* Williams said after he learned of Michael's death, Murray came up to him and said there was "some cream Michael wouldn't want the world to know about." Murray asked him to drive him to the home so he could retrieve the "cream."
* After checking with MJ's head of security, Faheem Muhammad, the two decided not to let Murray back into the house...
* Williams said it was "normal" to have oxygen tanks in MJ's house.
* Williams told Ed Chernoff he never told police about Murray's odd request until two months after Michael's death.
Keep refreshing for updates...

Michael Jackson: The case for, and against, Dr Conrad Murray
After administering the drug Dr Murray then negligently left Jackson?s bedroom to take phone calls, abandoning his patient to die alone.
He was also accused of failing to tell paramedics that he had given Jackson propofol.
Defence
The defence argued that Michael Jackson caused his own death and was ?frustrated? that Dr Murray would not give him the drugs he wanted.
Ed Chernoff, for the defence, claimed the King of Pop swallowed eight 2mg lorazepam sleeping pills in the 10 hours before he died.
He was said to have taken them when Dr Murray was not around. Those pills would have been enough to put six normal people to sleep, Mr Chernoff said.
When Dr Murray later left the singer?s bedroom Jackson self-administered propofol in the doctor?s absence, he claimed.
The combination of propofol and lorazepam produced a ?perfect storm? that killed Jackson instantly.
Mr Chernoff said: ?There was no medic, machine, or doctor that could save him. He died so rapidly so instantly he didn?t have time to close his eyes.?

One of the first things Kate Winslet did after narrating the Icelandic documentary 'A Mother's Courage: Talking Back To Autism' (aka The Sunshine Boy) was to embark on book project - a compilation of self-portraits of celebrities from art and film each wearing a golden hat, having been inspired by Keli Thorsteinsson's poem 'The Golden Hat' which featured in the movie. She was so moved by the plight of the autistic child in the film that she wanted to raise money to set up a charity that would better the lives of autistic children.
Not long after that The Golden Hat Foundation, a non-profit charity, was established by Winslet with a mission to teach autistic children how to communicate more clearly, as well as offer them education, job training and recreational activities adapted to their disability.

Autism, caused by a neurological development anomaly while the brain is maturing, affects sensorial and neurological functioning. Of all the serious developmental conditions it's the one seeing the most significant global growth - 67 million people are now affected by it.
Kate's role, having established an organisation to raise awareness of the condition and help improve the lives of those who suffer from it, is to raise money for the cause. So when Lancme suggested collaborating on a fund-raising limited edition makeup line in partnership with her, promising to donate 150,000 euros from its sales profits to the Foundation, she jumped at the opportunity: "Lancme's instant offer of support was a huge display of confidence and generosity and I knew it would open many doors", she said.

The upshot is The Golden Hat Collection, a one-off line which comprises the basic seasonal face-making staples for partying - blusher, lipstick and nail polish - each embossed with the Golden Hat symbol and Kate's signature. The blusher comes in two light shades - sparkling pink and golden - designed to warm pale and dark skin tones, a classic hot red shade of their iconic L'Absolu Rouge lipstick and a harmonising super-glossy nail polish colour.
The Golden Hat Collection is Lancme's after-dark look for winter 2011 - it just needs a lick of black mascara to finish it - but is only be available until December, so don't hang about.
? Golden Hat Blush Palette (34), L'Absolu Rouge in shade 132 (19.50) and Le Vernis in 102 (15), is available from Selfridges on 15 October, then from Lancome stockists nationwide from 1 November.
