Bill Bailey to star in Doctor Who Christmas special

In a recent interview in America Bailey joked: "There was a petition to get me on to Doctor Who. I kind of think the director is sitting there and then this big petition comes in and the director's going "Oh, not the petition guy again! Why doesn't he go through the proper channels? Why doesn't get his agent to call me? Not the f------petition again!"

Petition or not, Bailey will be in the show and production has already started and will go on until mid-October. Bailey will film his scenes in Cardiff. The comedian tweeted today from America: "Tour done, wine is on,thanks to all who came along-back to Blighty to film Doctor Who Christmas Special..Onward!"

Steven Moffat, Lead Writer and Executive Producer, commented: "The Doctor at Christmas - nothing is more fun to write. Maybe because it's so his kind of day - everything's bright and shiny, everybody's having a laugh, and nobody minds if you wear a really stupid hat."

Skinner plays a widow with two children who is evacuated to a house in Dorset during the Second World War, where The Doctor (Matt Smith) is caretaker. The star of Outnumbered said: ?I am thrilled to be in Doctor Who playing Madge Arwell who is a bit of super-mum. It?s a magical part.?
