The British style maven's second collection for the American retailer Madewell made the company's website buckle under demand.

Style-savvy Americans can't get enough of TV presenter Alexa Chung's wardrobe; shortly after her second collection for denim label Madewell was posted online, the retailer's website crashed .
"Congrats! You crashed the @madewell1937 website with the purchase onslaught. Glad you like it! Xxxx" tweeted the 27-year-old.
Last night Chung, wearing a black, palm-tree printed minidress and suede biker jacket from her new range, hosted a launch party at the exclusive Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles. Actresses Kate Bosworth, Amanda Seyfried and 13-year-old Elle Fanning all turned up to support the model/ TV presenter.
Madewell is the more laid-back, denim-orientated 'sister' brand to one of America's more successful high street brands, J Crew. The place to stock up on cotton shirts, chunky knits and covetable footwear, Chung, inspired by the attire of 'girls in band', has injected her signature style into her eponymous range. Polka-dot shirts with Peter Pan collars, denim shorts and leopard-print boots feature alongside a black leather skater skirt and grey cashmere sweaters - typical Chung attire.

Those wishing to peruse the collection online can so as the links are back up and running, while the range will hit selected stores across the U.S from 6pm tonight. Here's hoping Madewell follows in the footsteps of J Crew by launching a UK e-store sooner rather than later...
