Actor Paul Bettany shows margin of error

Holness?s daughter Ros makes the point that the Blockbusters presenter ? nota bene, Mr Miliband ? had worked tirelessly for charities, in particular the Teenage Cancer Trust and Action For Children. ?Various people tried to get him an honour, but it never happened,? she says.

Fox-Pitt rides out

As one of Britain?s leading medal hopes for the London Olympics, William Fox-Pitt was hoping that 2012 would be a year to remember for all the right reasons. Sadly, the equestrian is having to cope with the death of his beloved father.

Oliver Fox-Pitt died on Monday at the age of 79. ?The family are comforted by the fact that he could not have had a more rewarding life,? says a friend. After shining as an equestrian, Oliver co-founded the investment bank Fox-Pitt Kelton. He continued working until recently. When William?s wife, the Channel 4 Racing presenter Alice Plunkett, gave birth to their first child in 2005, they named him Oliver in his honour.

Short but bitter

Having already played Mussolini and Khrushchev, Bob Hoskins appears to have a job for life. ?Most dictators have been short, fat, middle-aged baldies,? says the 69-year-old actor. ?Apart from Danny DeVito, there?s only me left.?
