Gurinder Chadha told Mandrake last year that her film Bend It Like Beckham, which made a star of Keira Knightley, would be turned into a West End musical.

Knightley, who turns 27 in March, should not, however, become too excited about reprising her role. Chadha tells me: ?I bumped into Keira recently and I said to her, 'I?d love to have you in it, but you are too old now???but you can come back as the mother.??? Charming.
